A Disability by Any Other Name:  Why Children with Fetal Alcohol Neurodevelopmental Disorder Have Not Been Diagnosed and Treated (and what you can do about it)

Dr. Doug Waite

We were thrilled to have Dr. Doug Waite present this keynote address.  Dr. Waite is on the board of NOFAS, is Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital, was elected one of ten national FASD Champions by the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2016, sits on the National Mental Health Advisory Board of the Child Welfare League of America, and is a member of the Society of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. Dr. Waite has special interests in FASD, post-traumatic stress disorder and the effects of child abuse and neglect upon child development.  He has used his time caring for children at The Keith Haring Clinic as an opportunity to teach medical students and pediatric residents the challenges of providing comprehensive medical care to children in foster care and the juvenile justice system.

Skylar Arthur

Fourteen year old Skylar Arthur (along with her grandparents, Sid and Sue) presents an eloquent testimonial, advocating for awareness and acceptance of FASD through her own lived experiences.
